SMWOM 22

Meng Yang went to Lin Songtai’s teaching courtyard the next day and officially became his student. He also met his senior brothers and sisters, and after talking with them, Meng Yang thought that they were all good people and were easy to get along with. There should be nothing bad about coming to classes here. Meng Yang felt that masters definitely liked to accept students with similar personalities and styles.

Once Lin Songtai left, Meng Yang and the others packed their things and prepared to leave.

“Meng Yang, we’re going to have a dinner party today. You should come with us,” Wu Feng said, turning to Meng Yang.

“I’m sorry, senior brother. I have an appointment today, but next time,” Meng Yang replied. He hadn’t seen Luo Xiu for three days, and today he had to go to the office and have him eat and rest.

“Well, this time was a little sudden, so I’ll tell you in advance next time,” Wu Feng said.

“Good.” Meng Yang picked up his things and said, “I’ll leave first, senior brother.”

Okay,” Wu Feng nodded.

As Meng Yang left the courtyard, Yu Junchen and his two senior brothers walked right up to them.

“Meng Yang.” Yu Junchen stepped up to Meng Yang, looking at him and saying, “I’m going to have dinner with my senior brothers this evening. You should come with me; I want to introduce you to them.”

Meng Yang ignored him and walked directly around him.

“Meng Yang…” Yu Junchen saw that Meng Yang didn’t pay attention to him and called out again, but Meng Yang still ignored him. Yu Junchen could only turn around and show a lost expression.

Wen Yuan immediately frowned at Meng Yang’s attitude. He went over to Yu Junchen and said loudly, “Why are you inviting him? In our hearts, he doesn’t even deserve to give you shoes. How can he eat with us? In the future, you should pay less attention to such people so as not to lower your standards.”

“Senior brother, let’s hurry to class or the teacher will be unhappy if we’re late.” Yu Junchen was worried that Wen Yuan’s words would be heard by Meng Yang, making it even more difficult for them to reconcile. He urged Wen Yuan and the others to quickly leave.

As Yu Junchen walked forward, he looked back at Meng Yang and sighed helplessly in his heart. If he wanted to reconcile with Meng Yang, he had to create a suitable opportunity.

In fact, in his past life Meng Yang had been introduced to Yu Junchen’s senior brothers and knew them too. Because Meng Yang’s talent for perfumery wasn’t high, they despised Meng Yang in their hearts. It was nothing to look down on Meng Yang and ignore him, but they also often taunted him. Meng Yang wasn’t so stupid that he couldn’t hear it, so he would no longer meet with them.

Almost all of Yu Junchen’s senior brothers were like their teacher, Xu Wangya, arrogant and upright. Though they did have reason to be proud, they would flaunt their greatness by mocking others. Meng Yang couldn’t look up to them, whether in this life or his last life.

Furthermore, Wen Yuan liked Yu Junchen, and had been very ambiguous with Yu Junchen in his previous life. Before Meng Yang knew that Yu Junchen had been together with Luo Sheng for a long time, he always thought that Yu Junchen would be with Wen Yuan. Meng Yang knew that even if Yu Junchen was now engaged to Luo Sheng, he’d definitely continue to be ambiguous with Wen Yuan in this life. It was just his character, so he’d wait to watch a good show.

Besides going to school everyday, Meng Yang spent most of his time in the study room of the main house, seriously studying the ancient books about aromatherapy left by the Meng family ancestors. However, if Luo Xiu hadn’t returned to the main house for more than three days, Meng Yang would visit his office. He had to wear him down until he was willing to have dinner with him or return to the main house.

Based on what Meng Yang understood from his dreams, he knew that Luo Xiu’s “setting” was a workaholic. He would work nonstop to make money and was addicted to his work. Even when he had a moment to rest, he would need to find something to do to constantly expand their industries. Only when the headaches were very severe would he stop and take a break. It was because of this that his headaches would become more and more serious.

In addition to having a work addiction and headaches, Luo Xiu had a few other characteristics formed by this “setting”. Meng Yang would slowly change him though. In this life, they would be happy.

Meng Yang’s senior brother Wu Feng and Yu Junchen’s senior brother stood in the lobby of the most famous ancient style hotel in the city, Asking Root. (1) They were at odds with each other because there was only one empty courtyard, and it wasn’t easy to clear out another courtyard. People on both sides had always looked down on each other and always took the chance to sneer at each other when they met in school. Now that they happened to meet outside, they naturally wanted to argue until the end.

Yu Junchen had come here to eat with Luo Sheng before. Luo Sheng told him that his father and a few friends had invested in Asking Root together for fun. The better the business, the better the inn became, so it only entertained member customers.

Wu Feng’s boyfriend Qin Hong’s father was a member of the hotel, and Yu Junchen’s senior brother Wen Yuan’s father was also a member of the hotel, but there was only one vacant courtyard. They had both come at the same time, and they wouldn’t tolerate each other. It was very hard for the service staff there.

Yu Junchen thought that since Luo Sheng’s father was one of the bosses here, the manager would definitely give Luo Sheng face, so he called him over.

However, when Luo Sheng arrived, Wen Yuan was unhappy again. He deliberately said to Luo Sheng, what was a small courtyard? If Luo Sheng really had the ability, then he’d take them to the Liuxiang courtyard. Luo Sheng couldn’t understand Wen Yuan’s hostility and contempt, but he was a proud person who loved face. Even though he knew Wen Yuan was deliberately provoking him, he would still prove him wrong.

However, the manager said to Luo Sheng, “I’m sorry, Young Master Luo, I really don’t have the right to let you into the Liuxiang courtyard.”

Wen Yuan knew that the manager would say this and deliberately sneered at Luo Sheng.

Luo Sheng looked at the manager with displeasure and said, “Did you say that when my father came? Or do you need my father to call you before you let us enter the Liuxiang yard?”

“This…” Hesitating for a moment, Manager Xu slowly said, “If it’s President Luo’s personal request, naturally you can go in.”

Of course, it was impossible for Luo Sheng to call Luo Xiu over such a small thing. He had no such confidence in front of Luo Xiu.

Just as Luo Sheng was thinking of saying something more serious to obtain the manager’s approval, Luo Xiu and Meng Yang came in from outside the gate.

“President Luo!” Manager Xu seemed to see his savior and quickly walked to meet Luo Xiu. “President Luo, Young Master Luo and his friends happen to be here. Do you want to arrange for them to be in the Liuxiang courtyard?”

Luo Xiu frowned slightly, and manager Xu immediately understood what he meant. He asked the service personnel to prepare the yard without mentioning anything about Luo Sheng entering the Liuxiang courtyard.

Seeing Luo Xiu coming, people on both sides voluntarily retreated and left the middle road open.

Meng Yang turned to look at Wu Feng, stopping to ask, “Senior brother, you’re here for dinner, so why don’t you go in?”

The manager quickly explained the situation to Meng Yang.

“I see.” Meng Yang looked at Luo Xiu and asked, “Mr. Luo, can you let my senior brothers eat in the Liuxiang courtyard?”

Luo Xiu nodded.

Liuxiang was the largest courtyard of Asking Root. There was ,of course, more than one room. When the manager saw Luo Xiu nodding, he immediately asked people to prepare things again.

“Let’s go, senior brother,” Meng Yang said to Wu Feng.

“Do you come here often?” Wu Feng asked Meng Yang.

“Occasionally when I have the time,” Meng Yang replied.

As he said this, they walked in. Luo Sheng was ignored, and his face became extremely ugly.

Wen Yuan thought that since Luo Xiu had come, Manager Xu would definitely let them in on Luo Xiu’s orders. After all, Luo Sheng was Luo Xiu’s son. Unexpectedly, Luo Xiu didn’t pay attention to Luo Sheng at all and went inside, and Meng Yang even brought Wu Feng inside with him.

This time, no one competed with them for the small courtyard that wasn’t easy to have vacated, but Luo Sheng was in no mood to eat, and turned away in anger.

Yu Junchen didn’t know what to do for a moment. He wanted to catch up with Luo Sheng, but he couldn’t leave these senior brothers alone either. After hesitating for a while, Yu Junchen didn’t go after Luo Sheng and instead stayed with his senior brothers.

Wen Yuan’s mood was a little complicated. He didn’t know if he should be happy or not because of Luo Sheng’s disgrace because Wu Feng and the others had “won”.

Meng Yang and Luo Xiu sat cross-legged beside the low window. A small stream was outside the window, and though it was an artificial stream, it was designed in a very natural way.

“I chose equestrianism as my elective course in sports, but I’ve never learned to ride. I want to practice before I start. Will you teach me?” Meng Yang asked Luo Xiu.

“Understood. I’ll take you to pick a suitable horse tomorrow, and you can use it in class,” Luo Xiu said.

“Thank you, Mr. Luo.” Meng Yang got up and walked over to Luo Xiu and hugged Luo Xiu’s shoulders to express his thanks.

Luo Xiu patted Meng Yang’s back. He thought that Meng Yang would immediately let go, but Meng Yang held him tightly and didn’t release him.

“What’s the matter?” Though Luo Xiu couldn’t see Meng Yang’s face, he still felt that there was something wrong with his mood.

Meng Yang loosened his grip on Luo Xiu and sat down and held his legs. He looked down and said, “After my mother died, no one was sincerely good to me apart from Yunjing, who took good care of me as a friend. I’m very clear that you’re accommodating me because I saved you, but I can’t help but be moved.”

Luo Xiu stroked Meng Yang’s hair and said, “It’s true that I’m very grateful to you for saving me. Just like I believe that you’re truly good to me in always wanting me to rest, you can also believe that I’m sincerely good to you. Still, it’s important to understand your feelings clearly. I don’t want you to regret anything later.”

Luo Xiu was always so busy, but he still immediately agreed to teach Meng Yang to ride a horse. Meng Yang really was moved. Even so, Luo Xiu obviously thought that Meng Yang’s feelings for him weren’t love. This was within Meng Yang’s expectations, but he was still a little lost.

Luo Xiu thought that he and Meng Yang were brought together by fate. He’d never felt lonely before meeting Meng Yang, but after Meng Yang came to his side, he thought it was rather nice to have someone to accompany him. Yes, and he seemed to have the desire to protect Meng Yang.

Red Yak has something to say: And a desire to eat meat, right? ‘Cause you’re not a vegetarian, right.

Translator Notes: Luo Xiu is a little dense….

Ai, I forgot how demoralizing my work is haha, I’ve barely done any translating in the past couple weeks…I need to get my motivation back up! Luckily, I have small stockpile of chapters ready for now.

1. I would’ve left it in pinyin because I think it might sound better, but the pinyin was Wen Yuan, aka Yu Junchen’s senior brother…different characters but @author why

    • Pff yeah I did notice that before. It might’ve been my mistake or the authors mistake, but I thiiiiink maybe he went the courtyard and met everyone, then theres a cut and 3 days pass and they’re all in class on a later day, which us when he thinks the 3 day thing. Not positive though, as it’s rather unclear in the text.
